The first instalment of The DnB Takeover took place on Friday 6th October 2023, at Aura nightclub in Tunbridge Wells. This event was a collaboration between Wise Or Not Events and Fun-Da-Mental Productions. Wise Or Not Events is a new event company founded by MC Y-Zer, who is doing big things within the DnB scene currently and Fun-Da-Mental Productions have a growing reputation within Tunbridge Wells and the surrounding areas for high quality events, so this promised to be a match made in heaven. And it did not disappoint. The event was completely sold out and was one to remember. With a fantastic line-up of DJs and MCs playing across two rooms, bringing you the best in DnB in room one, and Oldskool Jungle played on vinyl in room two. With a games room at the venue offering a pool table, air hockey and table tennis, it had everything you could want as a raver, and more. Who doesn’t like a little competition between friends to add an extra layer of fun on a night out?
There were sets from Konetix who was b2b with J-Slice, Bully who was b2b with Corrupted Mind, Millz, Dead Intent, Thatch, Ghost, Aura who was b2b with Norse, Vdubz, Shift3r, Macpherson, Xanda and Treeman in room one, and despite everyone bringing their A game, the highlights for me were Thatch, Millz and Bully b2b Corrupted Mind. Their sets were absolutely going off. The MCs for room one were on point too, delivering some incredible bars and really hyping the crowd. The MCs consisted of Y-Zer, Tiny K, Enamie, Gizla, Redz, and Iffy. The vibe was fantastic right from the off, and it was soon absolutely packed with ravers all skanking the night away. There was so much energy being provided by those playing, and this was well matched by those in attendance, enjoying the evenings DnB offerings.
Over in room two there were sets from Treeman who opened, and then Twony who played an absolute marathon set of nearly four hours. These two were sticking strictly to Oldskool Jungle and playing out on vinyl. Again, this room was also pretty busy from the first set onwards, and the vibe was great. A special mention for Fun-Da-Mental resident DJ Twony, who was like a man possessed, knocking out mix after mix in an amazing display of endurance with his four hour Jungle antics.
All in all, it was a huge success and a true celebration of all things Jungle & DnB, one that will live long in the memory.
This was the first in what is to become a regular event, with four a year on the cards at this venue. Tickets are already on sale for the next instalment, which is on Friday 2nd February 2024. And the headliner is none other than one of the scenes pioneers, Ray Keith. He will be joined by Ironlung and a whole host of other quality acts. We can’t wait!!
